Bollywood actor Rajesh Khanna dies at 69
New Delhi: Bollywood's first superstar Rajesh Khanna breathed his last on July 18 at his residence in Mumbai. He was 69 and is survived by his estranged wife Dimple Kapadia and two daughters Twinkle and Rinke. Film actor Akshay Kumar was his son-in-law.
The veteran actor was admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati hospital last week following reports of low blood pressure, but was discharged on Tuesday and was at his Mumbai residence since then.
Earlier on June 24, he was admitted to a hospital following kidney problems.
Rajesh Khanna's death brings to an end an era, that is unparalleled in its extremes. I think a biopic on the life and times of Rajesh khanna would be the best tribute to The Phenomenon. Just imagine 15 hits in a row, and a following larger than Rajnikant has today and then all goes bust another instant, and yet the comeback, though not as spectacular. Nevertheless even if Kaka had faded from public view, he was and will always be fondly remembered. "Zindagi badi honi chahiye, lambi nahin!", as Anand would have put it! Alvida Anand!
